The Triton shells are known for their thick and intricately decorated patterns, typically found in tropical waters. One highly sought after species is the Trumpet Triton in the Pacific. These shells can be found in the Indian Ocean, Indonesia, and the coast of Australia and New Zealand. Occasionally, they have also been spotted in southern Japanese waters. As with most gastropods, the Triton has a pointed spire that extends from the coiled shell. The soft-bodied animal residing inside the shell is also known as a mollusk and is responsible for creating the calcified shell. In the case of the Triton, the shell is a single, unified structure.
